Programs and services


The Global Career Development Facilitator (GCDF) started in 1997 as a joint initiative the Center for Credentialing and Education (CCE), National Career Development Association and National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee. Since then, the GCDF program has grown and matured, now offering customization for different national characteristics, according to country-specific needs. Currently, GCDF exists in Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Japan, Macedonia, Mexico, New Zealand, Romania, South Korea, Taiwan, Turkey, United States.

The GCDF Career Consultant is a graduate of the GCDF training program, as approved by CCE and EBCC. The main role of the GCDF is to facilitate the access of clients to existing professional opportunities in the labor market and to assist them in the process of personal and professional development. The GCDF can fulfill several activities, in different contexts and situations:

  • Assist clients in the career guidance & development process, in a labor market dominated by accelerated technological development, competitive global economy, and diversity.
  • Assist clients of different ages in the process of exploring career and occupational opportunities.
  • Facilitate access to information resources covering the labor market and specialize in job placement.
  • Offer career guidance and development services in public and private organizations, NGOs, foundations, etc.
  • Advocate for the client in the social system/community.
  • Facilitate career development activities for groups.
  • Training.
  • Informational support and training to prepare clients for job interviews.
  • Coaching.
  • Coordination of career counseling centers.


The Mental Health Facilitator program focuses on improving access to community-based mental health care. In practice, the MHF program is multiple country-specific programs consisting of a training framework, a group of providers, and defined helping parameters (practice areas). The MHF program is not designed to create a new mental health profession; providers retain their own professional identity and add mental health facilitation skills to their practice.

NBCC International provides a basic structure for each of the components of a country-specific MHF program, but only introduces a program at the request of local mental health experts. Programs receive modifications to fit cultural norms prior to being introduced.

MHF training programs are adapted on a country-by-country basis with both universal and country-specific standards to ensure cultural appropriateness. Depending on a nation's needs, MHFs may be initial helpers of choice, may serve as a referral source for specialist services, or both.


NBCC International's supervision training is designed for helping professionals with little or no formal training in supervision. Although supervision has always been part of the helping professions, advances in theories and techniques over the past several decades have warranted specific training and specializations. It is an important tool for enhancing best possibly practice.
